Frequently Asked Questions
Features & Functionality
What kind of AI formulas are supported? Can I reference other cells in the formula?
GPT Mate supports =GPT() for freeform responses, =GPTLIST() for lists, and =GPTTABLE() for structured tables. You can build dynamic prompts by referencing other cells like =GPT("Summarise this:", A2) or a range of cells like =GPT("Summarise this:", A2:C10)
What kind of things can I generate with GPT Mate?
You can generate summaries, brainstorm ideas, write content, translate text, create tables, and more - all directly in Sheets.
Can I customise the output style or tone; or use a fine tuned model?
Yes, you can modify your prompt to customise output style, tone, and format. You may also use an API that you have fine-tuned, and the results will stay consistent as you use your API within GPT Mate for Sheets
What models does GPT Mate support? Can I choose between different models like GPT-3.5, GPT-4, or Gemini Pro?
GPT Mate supports OpenAI models (GPT-3.5, GPT-4) and Google Gemini models (Pro, Flash, etc.). Refer here for the full list of models - https://8apps.co/docs/gpt-mate/power-user-tip/supported-ai-models
Can I switch between OpenAI and Gemini models later?
Yes, you can switch between OpenAI and Gemini at any time by updating your API key in the GPT Mate settings and changing the default model of your Sheet, or by going to individual cells that calls GPT Mate's functions.
What are the differences between GPT, GPTLIST, and GPTTABLE functions?
= GPT ( .. ) returns a paragraph-style response
= GPTLIST ( .. ) gives a bullet list of points
= GPTTABLE ( .. ) generates tabular data for structured tasks
