Scheduling Between Africa and Europe

Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe are surprisingly close in time zones. Nairobi is just 3 hours ahead of London; Lagos and Johannesburg are even closer.

Scheduling Tips

1

Lagos (WAT, UTC+1) matches CET in winter and is only 1 hour ahead of London β€” nearly simultaneous business hours.

2

Nairobi (EAT, UTC+3) is 3 hours ahead of London β€” 9 am London = noon Nairobi. A 5-hour overlap is easily achievable.

3

Johannesburg (SAST, UTC+2) aligns closely with Central European Time β€” very comfortable for European partners.

4

None of these African cities observe DST, so gaps to European cities shift by 1 hour when Europe moves to summer time.

5

Cairo (EET, UTC+2) also has no DST; it sits very close to CET in winter and just 1 hour behind CET in summer.
