Working with Nearshore Dev Teams in Eastern Europe

US and UK companies increasingly work with engineering teams in Poland, Romania, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic. The 6–8 hour gap from the US East Coast gives a solid morning overlap.

Scheduling Tips

1

New York (EST) is 6 hours behind Warsaw (CET) in winter — 9 am ET = 3 pm Warsaw. A 3-hour overlap exists until 6 pm Warsaw / noon ET.

2

London (GMT) and Warsaw (CET) are just 1 hour apart — nearly identical working days.

3

US West Coast (PST) has only a 1-2 hour overlap with Eastern Europe — morning standups work, but afternoon calls are impossible.

4

Eastern Europe transitions to summer time on the same date as Western Europe, 2 weeks before the US — watch for the March and November gap weeks.

5

Daily standups at 9–10 am ET / 3–4 pm Warsaw are a popular rhythm for US↔Poland engineering teams.
