Copy to Another Google Account
Drive Downloader can copy your selection straight into a folder of a different Google account, for example from a work account to a personal one. Nothing is downloaded to your computer.
Before you start
Link the other account once on the Integrations page. It must be a different account from the one you signed in with.
How to copy
- Start a New export and complete What to export and File formats as usual.
- In Save to, choose Google Drive. The linked account is shown with its free space.
- Click Choose folder in (the other account) and pick the folder to copy into. It can be in its My Drive or in a shared drive.
- Choose how Google Docs, Sheets and Slides arrive:
- Keep as Google files – they arrive as editable Google files. Most formatting carries over; comments and some advanced features may not. Drawings arrive as images.
- Convert – they arrive in the formats chosen in step 2.
- Click Start copy.
Files go directly into the folder you chose, with their folders recreated. The copy runs in the background, so you can close the tab. We email you when it is done.
Not enough space
Before the copy starts, Drive Downloader compares its size with the free space in the other account. If it may not fit, you see This copy may not fit with the shortfall:
- Start anyway – copy as much as fits. The copy stops if the account runs out of space.
- Back to options – change the selection or free up space first.
Shared drive folders are not checked, because shared drives have no per-drive quota.
What Drive Downloader can access
In the other account, Drive Downloader can only add files to the folder you choose and see the files it creates there. Nothing in your own Drive changes.
Cancelling and copying again
- Cancel stops the copy. Files already copied stay in the destination folder and count toward your plan.
- Copying again adds the files again, so remove earlier copies first if you want to avoid duplicates.
Copied files count toward your plan the same way as downloads.
