Google File Formats

Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings only exist inside Google, so Drive Downloader converts them when it exports. In step 2 of a new export you choose one format per type, from the same list as Google's own File › Download menu.

Google typeFormatsDefault
Google DocsMicrosoft Word (.docx), PDF, OpenDocument (.odt), Plain text (.txt), Rich Text Format (.rtf), Web page (.html, zipped), EPUB (.epub), Markdown (.md).docx
Google SheetsMicrosoft Excel (.xlsx), PDF, OpenDocument (.ods), CSV (first sheet), TSV (first sheet), Web page (.html, zipped).xlsx
Google SlidesMicrosoft PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF, OpenDocument (.odp), Plain text (.txt), PNG, JPEG or SVG image (first slide).pptx
Google DrawingsPNG, PDF, JPEG, SVG.png
Warning

CSV and TSV hold only the first sheet of a spreadsheet, and the image formats only the first slide of a presentation. Choose another format to keep everything.

Files that cannot be exported

Google Forms and Google Sites cannot be exported. Shortcuts are skipped, and so are files whose owner disabled downloads. Each one is listed in the manifest.csv with the reason.

Copying into another Google account

When you copy into another Google account, you can choose Keep as Google files instead. Docs, Sheets and Slides then arrive as editable Google files. Most formatting carries over; comments and some advanced features may not. Drawings arrive as images.
